On Thursday, December 11, 2008, Oliver Elementary traveled to Haskell for District 13-A ZONE 1 UIL Competition. District 13A ZONE 1 consists of 6 schools: Albany ISD , Hamlin ISD, Haskell CISD, Roscoe ISD, Rotan ISD, and Stamford ISD. Competition was held for students in grades two through six. Less than 60 points separated first and third place, with second and third going back and forth before a strong finish by Haskell 6th graders in Music Memory, ensuring Haskell a 2nd place finish. Albany finished in first place with 548.1 points. Haskell finished second with 509.3 points, while Stamford came in third with 488.5 points. Roscoe finished fourth with 284.5, ahead of Hamlin’s 240 points and Rotan’s 231.5. Haskell hosted the event at their elementary school and did a wonderful job preparing the event.
